Salem Radio Network syndicated host Hugh Hewitt is rumored to be in talks with MSNBC to host a weekend evening program. The conservative talker’s possible addition has some staffers curious about the direction NBC News chairman Andy Lack has for the network.
According to the New York magazine, MSNBC was courting Hewitt for a weekend morning show but the host prefers the program to air in evenings. Already a paid commentator, Hewitt taking a larger role at MSNBC would continue the network’s more conservative lean as of late.
At an NBC town hall held after the election, Lack said the network should be focused on appealing to people of America’s heartland—which many felt was meant to “focus on Trump voters,” a source said.
