Durbanville : Blue Tuesday’s @ Die Boer

The LAST Tuesday of every month is Blue Tuesday!… a night dedicated to the true blue-blooded blues lover …and the music is the kind of stuff you will find in the back-streets of Chicago and New Orleans.

South Africa is blessed with an almost unbelievable crop of world-class blues musicians.

20 & 27 February 2018

From 18:30 until Late

At Chenoweth Straat 6, Durbanville
Chenoweth Straat 6, Durbanville, South Africa

Entrance fee:-
R140 – R150 P.P.

The magic of an evening at die Boer can only be experienced live, so come and join us every last Tuesday night in the month!

Blue Tuesday at die Boer has become a forum where musicians meet and jam with each other and new ideas and collaborations are formed. A house band provides the backbone of the music while various guests will join them throughout the night.

In these tough economic times it is an affordable night out with great food and drinks “specials”, listening to the kind of stuff you thought only happens overseas.

Die Boer is the premier “dinner & live entertainment under one roof” venue in the Western Cape and is situated in the heart of the Durbanville CBD, about 25 mins from the Cape Town city centre, Stellenbosch and Paarl. With 6 shows a week, we cater for just about every taste under the African sun.

With this interactive website, you can see our program for months ahead, learn more about the amazing artists that perform here, choose a table, book and pay for your tickets online. Of course, bookings can also still be made in the “normal” way by phoning us at 021-9791911.

Established in 2005, die Boer has become a landmark in the entertainment industry and a “must visit” item on the program of visitors country wide. Seating 120 people, all with an unobstructed view of the stage, we offer our guests an intimate, upmarket, yet very affordable dinner-theatre experience.

Although we occasionally will serve food and drinks DURING a show, this is normally NOT the case, which means no orders for food BEFORE the show, will be accepted after 19:15. If you arrive late, you are of course welcome to order drinks, and have your food in the break, or AFTER the show.

Many of our shows are fully booked before it gets advertised in the media and many people are disappointed when they see an article about their favorite artist in the newspapers, only to find out they are too late when they phone to book. Our newsletter is the best and most convenient way of keeping informed about what is happening at die Boer.

Cupid’s Arrow Takes Aim At Radio Airwaves.

The radio airwaves are being overrun by Cupid and his arrow. With Valentine’s Day one week away, is it any surprise that Jared the Galleria of Jewelry, ProFlowers/Shari’s Berries, Shane Co., and Diamonds Direct are all among the top 30 advertisers?

In fact, the three jewelers were all pervasive over the airwaves around the holidays, but then lay low until now. For all of 2017, Diamonds Direct was No. 22, Shane was No. 24 and Jared was 58.

Now, for this pre-holiday week of Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, Jared pops back into the top 100, at No. 4, which equals its highest position in 2017 (the week of Dec. 4-10), according to Media Monitors, which tracks national radio advertising in 85 markets. Among competitors, Shane is No. 23 (No. 35 last week) and Diamond Direct is No. 30 (No. 25 last week). Genesis Diamonds was No. 99 a week ago, but does not appear on the roster this week. Among related gift gifting, FTD’s Proflowers/Shari’s Berries is No. 13 for the week ending Feb. 4 (new to the chart).

Report: Apple Music U.S. Subscriptions To Outpace Spotify.

Apple Music is gaining ground on Spotify in the battle for U.S. subscribers. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple Music’s growth rate for U.S. subscribers has risen to five percent monthly compared to Spotify’s two percent monthly growth. If the pace continues, Apple will outpace Spotify by this summer.

Last month Spotify said it has 70 million subscribers to its premium music streaming service. Apple told the Wall Street Journal it now has 36 million subscribers – up from the 30 million it reported in September. Neither company specifies how many subscribers are from the U.S., but the Journal cites record industry insiders as to the stateside subscription growth increases for both companies.

Survey: Listeners Prefer Local Over National Contests.

When it comes to radio contesting, more listeners like local than national. That’s the finding of a new NuVoodoo Ratings Prospects Study, which found that 59.8% of respondents are more likely to play a local radio contest with a smaller prize than the 35.7% who said they were more likely to play a national radio contest with a larger prize.

NuVoodoo provided a choice between two hypothetical contests: one where the 25th local caller wins $250, the other where the 25th nationwide caller wins $1,000. It found that the smaller prize – against a smaller, local entry pool – beats the larger, nationwide prize by better than a two-to-one margin.

Last Push For Radio To Move To Online Public Files.

The countdown is on for all full-power radio stations to move their public inspection files online. The Federal Communications Commission has ordered all stations to shift to an online file on the FCC’s searchable portal website by March 1. It’s the last wave of stations to make the switch. Television stations began posting their public files online in 2012 and radio stations in the top 50 markets followed in 2016.

For the final group converting over to the FCC’s web portal, the largest headache has been technical. “The single biggest question that we are getting isn’t what do I upload or anything along the traditional lines, it’s I can’t get the system to work—and as a result people can’t get even started in the process and it’s been incredibly frustrating,” said Fletcher Heald & Hildreth attorney Scott Flick on a recent webinar hosted by several state broadcast associations. It’s a good reason for stations not to put off the process until the last minute.
